You are a documentary style photographer, but will I get posed shots?
I get this question a lot, and the answer is Yes! We always allot time for posed photos, family, wedding party, and of course - you two together! I do ask that you try to limit the different groupings as much as you can so that we don't get caught up in too many photos!
How long will it take to receive my photos?
You get a sneak peek of about 10 photos with in one week!! The rest of the photos 4-6 after the wedding. Photos are guaranteed in the contract to be delivered within 2 months.
What can I do with my photos?
Pretty much anything personally that you want! You will receive a personal print release for the photos. This means you are free to print from your personal proofing site or from your own digital downloads, as well as posting on social media. Stephanie and David Lyell retain the copyright to all photos. This means that you don’t have the permission to sell or modify the photos.
Can we meet you?
Yes! Stephanie is one of the biggest extroverts in the world, and loves meeting new people all the time (just ask Dave - we can't go into a coffee shop with out making at least one new friend). So please email me and lets meet over coffee/wine/whatever!
What keeps you motivated/inspired?
This life. A favorite quote of mine says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” What we hope to do is capture those beautiful/fleeting things on camera in a way that makes the invisible just a little more visible and stirs up an emotion in you. We hope that the things that make all of our lives meaningful, things like love, joy, devotion, adoration and closeness would come across through the photographs that we create. It's a constant chase it is thrilling.
What can I expect from you on my wedding day?
To show up with huge smile on my face ready to do some digging for beautiful photographs and moments. I work in a documentarian style. Do what you do, enjoy your wedding, hug your parents, cry, laugh, dance, soak up every moment of that beautiful day.
What does a typical documentary session look like?
We do the session at place and with activities that are meaningful to you. That could be bedtime at your home, the ice cream place that you go to on hot summer evenings, chocolate melting down sticky toddler fingers, a movie night, back to school shopping trip, the possibilities are endless! I love hearing new and creative ideas!
Why Documentary Photography?
We don't want perfect, we want real. Because you have a unique and special life. We all do. We all live these beautiful lives every day. We may not always feel like it, but these days are gifts.
Can we do a more typical session?
Of course! If you are looking to get those park photos, we can definitely do that with a photojournalistic flair. We can go to the park, play, and pose for a few photos too. These are great for wall display/Christmas cards, as well as just having a fun time with your family documented in photographs. HOWEVER, if you do choose this kind of a session, I HIGHLY recommend scheduling a documentary style session at some point within the next year. You won't regret it!
We spend 10 hours with you documenting every detail of your day. Searching for all those big and little moments that make up your day. Albums, prints and extra (or less) hours available.
2 hours in the location of your choice. The more creative and specific to you and your family, the better! Full resolution images on a proofing website included.
